Mistakes cost us - Davis

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis blamed sloppy defensive work following the 2-1 home defeat to Barnsley.

"We sat back and made mistakes and we got punished" - Steve Davis
The Railwaymen took the lead through Billy Waters but Leroy Lita and Martin Cranie later turned the contest on its head.

"We had fairly decent control in the first half and started a lot brighter," Davis reflected to Crewe's official website. "There wasn't a lot in the early exchanges until the goal and there wasn't a lot of chances either end.

"We went into the break winning 1-0, happily, and we didn't build on that," he added. "We sat back and made mistakes and we got punished for those mistakes."
