Weekend goalscorer Adam Dugdale saluted Crewe Alexandra after coming through their big weekend challenge.

"It is a great achievement considering where we were at Christmas" - Adam Dugdale
The Railwaymen knew they simply must beat Preston North End at Gresty Road in order to absolutely guarantee their survival from relegation at the end of a long and difficult season. And Dugdale led the way with an early strike later added to by Mathias Pogba in their 2-1 success.

"It was a superb performance from the lads today because we wanted to make sure we did our job and win the game," Dugdale told Crewe's official website. "We had worked so hard to get back into it and to get ourselves into this position so we were determined not to throw it away on the final day.

"We wanted to be in control of our own destiny and we have put in a fantastic performance to do it. Everyone played their part," he continued. "The eleven who started the subs who came on, the staff, the fans, everyone and it is a great achievement considering where we were at Christmas."
