Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis admitted his side had been very much second best against leaders Brentford.

"They are a very good side and deservedly beat us today" - Steve Davis
On loan Alan Judge (2) and Adam Forshaw struck quality efforts for the visitors in a comfortable 3-1 victory before Chuks Aneke replied from the penalty spot with his eleventh goal of the campaign.

"We knew what Brentford would be like and we knew we would be up against the best team in the league this afternoon," Davis told Crewe's official website. "So we knew it would be a difficult game but I thought we managed to stifle them in the first-half without creating any chances.

"They are a very good side and deservedly beat us today. But they didn't open us up and have scored three great goals from distance," he continued. "We thought we might be able to contain them but unfortunately we couldn't stop the long-range goals."
