Davis delight at late reward

Manager Steve Davis was delighted after Crewe Alexandra recorded a second successive victory courtesy of a late winner against Bristol City at Gresty Road.

"It was more clumsy than anything but he has tripped him" - Steve Davis
Byron Moore both won and converted an injury-time penalty to leave the hosts in sixteenth place while their opponents slipped to the foot of the table. However, Davis conceded his side were perhaps fortunate with the penalty award.

"It was a tense game and we defended well. We put bodies on the line and that is what we have been after and we have snatched the points," Davis told Crewe's official website. "Sometimes you snatch them and sometimes you get it snatched from you.

"Byron showed great courage because it was virtually the last kick of the game and the opportunity to win the points. He had won the penalty as well after being bundled over," he continued. "It was more clumsy than anything but he has tripped him. I have seen them given and I've seen them waved away. So maybe we got fortunate there."
