Striker back at Crewe

The door hasn't yet been closed by Crewe Alexandra on experienced striker Nathan Ellington.

"Who knows, a fit Nathan Ellington could be the answer we are looking for" - Neil Baker
The 31-year-old made eight appearances for the club whilst on a short-term deal last season and has been invited to take part in pre-season training this time around.

And while Ellington previously failed to open his account for the Railwaymen, he had been a regular goalscorer in earlier spells with Bristol Rovers, Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion.

"He has been in to the training ground and he is looks far trimmer and fitter," assistant manager Neil Baker told Crewe's official website. "He knew he was carrying too much weight last season and was playing catch up with his fitness.

"But he has made that change," he added. "So who knows, a fit Nathan Ellington could be the answer we are looking for because we know he has quality."
