Dario Gradi insists he won't be taking over from current manager Steve Davis should he acquire the vacancy at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"I think we are producing coaches here" - Dario Gradi
Now director of football at Gresty Road, Gradi previously led Crewe in more than 1,400 games during two separate spells in charge.

However, while the 71-year-old won't be tempted into a third period at the helm, he did imply the club would be looking to promote from within should the need arise.

"I am happy not to be doing the job and if, for instance, Steve were to go and they said to me will you be caretaker I'd say 'yeah for about three weeks'," Gradi admitted to the Crewe Chronicle. "While we haven't talked about [Davis leaving] at any length we'd have an idea as where to start. There are people we identify.

"I think we are producing coaches here," he continued. "The two boys here [academy directors] James Collins and Neil Critchley will go on to do something, somewhere."
