Midweek checks for Alex

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis will make checks on his squad ahead of tomorrow evening's home clash with Brentford.

"We have a good squad here and if one or two don't make it then we have quality players coming in" - Steve Davis
Defender Kelvin Mellor (toe) is already a doubt while Mark Ellis (ankle) and Wembley goalscorer Luke Murphy also need assessing.

Davis has already lost the services of top scorer Mathias Pogba for the rest of the season due to a thigh injury. However, on loan Brad Inman is fine to continue despite being withdrawn on Sunday.

"Murph was fatigued because he hasn't played in the last three games," Davis told Crewe's official website. "Kelvin had to have an injection in his toe before the game and at half-time and he played with the pain.

"Mark Ellis also got a whack on his ankle, so we will have to see how he is," he continued. "Brad was just tired and not injured. We have a good squad here and if one or two don't make it then we have quality players coming in to take their place."
