Crewe bid to increase Pompey woes

Crewe Alexandra entertain the division's bottom club when troubled Portsmouth come to Gresty Road this weekend.

"They have a great spirit there and so do their fans" - Steve Davis
On loan midfielder Brad Inman is a major doubt for the hosts with an ankle injury sustained during the midweek defeat at Hartlepool United.

Manager Steve Davis was particularly unhappy with the level of performance in that game and could make changes, with the likes of Matt Tootle, Harry Davis and Mathias Pogba hoping for recalls.

"Portsmouth have had troubles all season and the turnaround of players has been incredible," he told Crewe's official website. "They have continued to bring in as good a player as they can get and still have some good players there.

"They have worked hard, and although haven`t won for a while have picked up points along the way," Davis continued. "They have a great spirit there and so do their fans. It will be a hard game."

Pompey have recently been overhauled at the bottom of the table and now find themselves trailing the rest by six points and a dozen from immediate safety, with only eleven games of their season remaining.

Full-back Shaun Cooper (hip) requires a late check but Sam Sodje definitely misses out through suspension.
