Duo Extend Deals

Luke Varney and Michael O'Connor have both penned three-year deals until summer 2009. The duo have impressed so far this season and appear to be an integral part of this developing Crewe side.

The news comes as somewhat of a relief after mounting speculation that Billy Jones and Jon Otsemobor are refusing to extend their contracts which expire this summer. If the duo's refusal to sign a new deal continues until the summer, it would be catastrophic for Crewe, who need to sell these sorts of players eventually to maintain the youth policy.

Next summer promises to be an interesting one, with 27 of the current 37 permanently registered squad members out-of-contract. Only Ben Williams, Stuart Tomlinson, Owain Fon Williams, Neil Cox, Julien Baudet, David Vaughan, Michael O'Connor, Gary Roberts, Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard are currently contracted beyond summer 2007.
