Trialist striker Nathan Ellington was on the mark as Crewe Alexandra's Under-21s suffered a 2-1 defeat to Coventry City on Friday afternoon.
Manager Steve Davis is currently weighing up an option of handing the experienced 31-year-old forward a regular deal at Gresty Road following him recently training with the club.
The former Watford and Wigan Athletic marksman equalised after the break with his second goal in as many appearances for the Railwaymen.
It follows him cancelling his contract by mutual consent at Ipswich Town last month due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
