Davis warns against backlash

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has warned his players over the dangers of a potential backlash when facing managerless Notts County this weekend.

"We will have to guard against any backlash and go into the game full of confidence" - Steve Davis
The Magpies dispensed with the services of supremo Keith Curle following last week's home defeat to bottom club Hartlepool United. He has since been replaced in a caretaker capacity by development coach Chris Kiwomya.

The visitors were hopeful that defender Harry Davis would recover from a toe injury in time to feature, while top scorer Mathias Pogba returns after similarly missing the midweek victory at Coventry City due to international duty.

"They will be motivated in front of their home crowd and will be looking to get their season back on track," Davis told Crewe's official website. "It can sometimes disrupt a club when they lose their manager. We will have to guard against any backlash and go into the game full of confidence having got a good result ourselves at Coventry."

The Magpies are without influential skipper Neal Bishop as he completes a three-match ban, while goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski (head) and midfielder Joss Labadie (back) remain doubtful.
