Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis was sensibly taking nothing for granted despite a superb 3-0 victory at Coventry City in their Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area final first-leg at the Ricoh Arena.

"There is a still a lot to work to be done in the second leg" - Steve Davis
On loan Brad Inman struck twice during the second-half and AJ Leitch-Smith added a late third to leave the Alex appearing strong favourites for a Wembley date on 7th April.

"We had to ride our luck at time and you need that at times against good sides with a partisan crowd behind them," Davis admitted to Crewe's official website. "Saying that we defended superbly well and made blocks and interceptions all night.

"There was some real grit and determination and I can only praise each and every one of them," he continued. "They put a lot of hard work in this evening to get a great result against a good team and we know it is only half time in the tie. There is a still a lot to work to be done in the second leg."

The eventual winners could face League Two play-off chasers Southend United in the final after a 1-0 victory in their first-leg at Leyton Orient.
