Scouts just part of the game - Davis

Manager Steve Davis has absolutely no problems with scouts from other clubs attending Crewe Alexandra games.

"I am proud of the fact that we produce good young players and clubs such as Manchester United and Aston Villa are prepared to come in" - Steve Davis
Talented duo Nick Powell and Ashley Westwood may have both departed for the Premiership ahead of their latest campaign, but Davis remains hopeful that will be it for this season and he won't lose anymore of his top prospects during the January window.

Skipper Luke Murphy has already been regularly linked with possibly resuming his partnership with former team-mate Westwood at Aston Villa.

"Having scouts at our games works both ways. On the one hand it shows that we are doing something right and those players are performing," Davis explained to Crewe's official website. "It is nice to think that we have bigger clubs coming to watch our young players.

"On the other hand, as a manager you want to keep hold of your better players for as long as possible," he added. "I am proud of the fact that we produce good young players and clubs such as Manchester United and Aston Villa are prepared to come in and take them to the next level."
