Alex look to progress

Crewe Alexandra are looking to continue their impressive recent run when hosting Stevenage at Gresty Road this weekend.

"Like all teams they will have their weaknesses and we will try and exploit them" - Steve Davis
Manager Steve Davis has lately guided his side into the top ten in their first season back at this level following on from their glorious promotion last term.

He was expected to largely go with an unchanged side from that which narrowly defeated Carlisle United on New Year's Day, although there may be the odd change should Davis detect any signs of weariness within the group following a busy recent programme.

Goalkeeper Steve Phillips should though continue after overcoming a slight knock from last time out while youngsters Oliver Turton and Brendon Daniels are both back in training.

"Stevenage are always a tough opponent," Davis told Crewe's official website. "They work hard for each other, get bodies behind the ball and are a threat on the counter-attacks and at set-plays.

"Their away form has been very good and they have beaten some good sides, so we are wary of their threat," he warned. "They will be organised and will play to their strengthens, but like all teams they will have their weaknesses as well and we will try and exploit them."

The visitors have rather slipped in the table of late and experienced disappointing festive defeats against both Walsall and Coventry City, while also suffering a couple of postponements.

Striker Patrick Agyemang remains doubtful for them with a hamstring injury picked up during their 1-0 loss at Walsall.
