Crewe Alexandra's talented youngsters can only benefit from a little senior bench duty according to manager Steve Davis.

"We've got to continue to bring players through" - Steve Davis
Seven teenagers were on the sidelines and awaiting the call during the weekend victory at Preston North End as the club maintains its rich tradition of discovering young talent.

And while on loan Chuks Aneke might have been the only one actually making an appearance late on, the likes of Ben Garratt, Jon Guthrie, George Ray, Brendan Daniels, Ryan Colclough and Max Clayton were also there, willing and very able.

"All the subs were under the age of 20, and although one or two of them haven't made their debuts yet, we've got to continue to bring players through," Davis told This is Staffordshire. "It's a little bit harder to do in this division than it was in League Two as the step up is a little bit bigger, but we will just be more patient with them.

"However, I still think we've got a reasonable number of players who can step up to this level at their age and I'm not afraid to stick them in," he added.
