Top clubs check Alex skipper
Crewe Alexandra could find themselves facing more Premier League interest in the New Year.
A number of leading sides are understood to be currently monitoring the progress of skipper Luke Murphy, who has enjoyed such a fine campaign to date with four goals in 23 games.
There was representation from several clubs from the top two divisions in midweek attendance to see the 23-year-old midfielder in action at Sheffield United.
Murphy is another to have originally progressed through the famed academy at Gresty Road. He was only appointed captain in August following predecessor Ashley Westwood joining Aston Villa for a £2m fee.
The Railwaymen also sold young starlet Nick Powell to Manchester United a couple of months earlier in a deal worth in the region of £6m.
