Crewe Alexandra were victorious in their FA Youth Cup second round tie after a thrilling 5-3 success against Scunthorpe United at Gresty Road.
Full-back James Baillie earned them an early lead with a tremendous left-footed strike but Luke Hornsey quickly equalised for the visitors following a defensive slip.
However, Brandon Moores then regained their advantage with a fine solo goal just before the break, although that was again cancelled out by Jamie Wootton early in the second-half.
But Dom Smith's deflected effort soon made it 3-2 to the hosts until their opponents immediately responded through Hakeeb Adelakun after goalkeeper Robbie Johnson had parried.
A low drive from James Jones on 71 minutes then tipped the balance back in favour of the Alex while Liam Nolan's emphatic 25-yard finish finally settled the issue.
