Crewe Alexandra face a number of selection issues for the arrival of Colchester United this weekend.

"Kelvin has a swollen knee and hasn't trained and Westy has a calf strain" - Steve Davis
Full-back Kelvin Mellor is definitely ruled out for the hosts due to the knee injury sustained during their midweek victory at Doncaster Rovers. He was expected to be replaced by summer arrival Greogor Robertson.

Meanwhile, unfortunate winger Michael West is another once again not involved due to aggravating a calf strain, while forward trio Max Clayton (groin), Ryan Colclough (jaw) and AJ Leitch-Smith (ankle) remain unavailable.

But manager Steve Davis was hoping for better news from winger Bryon Moore and midfielder Abdul Osman, who were both set to return to training following knocks.

"We do have a doubt over a few of our players. Kelvin has a swollen knee and hasn't trained and Westy has a calf strain," he told
Crewe's official website. "I am just hoping that this latest injury won't keep him out for long because his career here has been a bit stop/start.

"Byron and Abdul will come out with us this morning and give it a try," Davis added. "I am hopeful that those two will be fine."

Colchester are definitely without on loan Arsenal forward Sanchez Watt due to a torn hamstring while Kem Izzet (hip) is still unavailable.

But Freddie Sears may be in line for a recall and goalkeeper John Sullivan (Charlton Athletic) and defender Josh Thompson (Portsmouth) have today both come in on loan.
