Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis paid tribute to his side after their second away win of the season at Doncaster Rovers.

"The early goal made a difference to us because we have struggled to score that first goal" - Steve Davis
Debutant Lauri Dalla Valle on five minutes and Mathias Pogba during the second-half were both on target in a 2-0 victory at the Keepmoat Stadium - one that raised the visitors into fourteenth place in the table.

"We were immense defensively when we needed to be and I was pleased we managed to get a clean-sheet as well," Davis told Crewe's official website. "The early goal made a difference to us because we have struggled to score that first goal in a game. It was a great pass from Chuks and a great finish from Lauri.

"The second goal was a set play and it is nice to see the work we do on that pay off," he added. "We have worked hard on getting Pogs getting that position and he is a a big lad who can do that. It was also a great corner from Michael West."
