Alex blow as Max ruled out

Crewe Alexandra have received a serious blow on the eve of their FA Cup campaign with the news that striker Max Clayton has been ruled out.

"Max went for a scan on his groin and it revealed a slight tear" - Steve Davis
The teenager is set to miss the weekend game with Wycombe Wanderers and the trip to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening after a scan revealed a slight tear in his groin.

But in more positive news midfielder Abdul Osman came through training with no problems following his ankle injury.

"Max went for a scan on his groin and it revealed a slight tear," manager Steve Davis confirmed to Crewe's official website. "It has just pushed him back slightly, he might be back for the Colchester game next weekend, which is obviously not what we wanted.

"But Abdul trained with us yesterday, we will look at him again today and protect him because we don't want him to get another whack on it," he added. "Hopefully he will come through unscathed."
