Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis was pleased at the battling qualities of his side after once again witnessing them falling into early arrears at Walsall.

"They showed that real fighting spirit that we are going to need to pick up points" - Steve Davis
The visitors fought back from two-goals behind with Mark Ellis and on loan Chuks Aneke in added time finally earning them a well-deserved share of the spoils.

"We found ourselves 2-0 down before half an hour again and all we had spoken about all week was about the start to the game," Davis told Crewe's official website. "We talked to them before the game and then they don`t have to work too hard to score two goals against us.

"Credit to our lads because they came out and showed that real fighting spirit that we are going to need to pick up points," he added. "We were much better, controlled much of the play and kept going. I thought we showed enough fight in the second half to have got something from the game today and now we have to go again against Swindon on Tuesday night."
