No distractions for Crewe boss

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis won't allow recent speculation linking him with the Burnley job to affect his work.

"The only thing that matters to me is the three points up for grabs at Walsall this weekend" - Steve Davis
Davis is currently being mentioned as a possible successor to Eddie Howe at his former club after the 34-year-old completed a surprise return to AFC Bournemouth last week. Howe was in charge for just under two years at Turf Moor and had previously led the Cherries to promotion in 2010.

Burnley have since named youth team coach and former player Terry Pashley in temporary charge. Ex-Clarets chief Owen Coyle has recently been ruled out as a possible replacement while Michael Appleton (Portsmouth) and Micky Mellon (Fleetwood Town) are also being identified as possible candidates.

The Championship club are already said to have held talks with at least ten applicants for the role, including former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, ex-Hull City manager Nick Barmby and one-time Watford chief Sean Dyche.

"I have a job on here at Crewe and I am concentrating on that," Davis insisted to Crewe's official website. "From my point of view the only thing that matters to me is the three points up for grabs at Walsall this weekend. That is all I am concentrating on and everything else I can really control."
