Maynard Causing a Stir

Nicky Maynard has been banging in the goals during his career so far, and is now the joint top goalscorer with Leon Constantine in League One. Both forwards have 6 goals in total, with 5 in the league, whilst Maynard has got 4 in his last 2 starts, and has never failed to score in a game he's started.

His two goals against Huddersfield earned him a place in the League One Team of the Week for the second week in a row.
The League One Team of the Week:
GK Paul Smith (Notts Forest)
DF: Danny Senda (Millwall)
DF: Karl Broadhurst (Bournemouth)
DF: Louis Carey (Bristol City)
DF: Stephen Purches (Bournemouth)
MF: Chris Shuker (Tranmere)
MF: Matthew Sparrow (Scunthorpe)
MF: Nicky Southall (Notts Forest)
MF: Paul Brooker (Brentford)
ST: Nicky Maynard (Crewe)
ST: Karl Hawley (Carlisle)

Meanwhile, his goals have also attracted a host of scouts to Gresty Road. Crewe's last home game attracted just two scouts, but Maynard's 4 goals in 2 games appears to have caught the eye of numerous Premiership clubs. Scouts from Aston Villa, Blackburn, Fulham, Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham were all present against Huddersfield. It is, of course, far too early to be talking about Maynard moving on, as the youngster has a lot of work still to do, as Dario is reminding everybody, so this increase in scouts is more indicative of the fickle nature of the football industry than anything else.
