Manager Steve Davis expects teenage forward Max Clayton to continue his development at Gresty Road.

"We don't want him to go and be part of some club's development squad" - Steve Davis
The eighteen-year-old is already being tipped to follow the likes of Nick Powell and Ashley Westwood into the Premier League and returned to the goal trail for the first time in eight games at Shrewsbury Town in midweek.

However, Davis believes it it important that Clayton keeps learning his trade exactly where he is and with his local side rather than moving on to a bigger club too early in his development.

"Max doesn't take much notice of the speculation and neither do we," Davis told Alex's official website. "He is still finding his feet with us and learning his trade here.

"We don't want him to go and be part of some club's development squad, we want him to be ready to go into a first-team squad," he added. "He is playing first team here and developing with us."
