Crewe Alexandra travel to Shrewsbury Town in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy this evening (kick-off 7.15pm).

"We want to go and win every game" - Steve Davis

Manager Steve Davis has already confirmed he is taking the competition very seriously and is set to name a strong line-up for the game.

On loan midfield duo Chuks Aneke and Andy Bond have both been given permission to play by their parent clubs, while Byron Moore, Abdul Osman, Steve Phillips and Michael West are still out.

"We will take it seriously. We want to go and win every game, no matter what competition it is in," Davis told Crewe's official website. "There won't be too many changes from the side that won on Saturday, and the substitutes will be more a less the same too.

"Byron and Abdul could return to training later this week and have a chance for Saturday, but this game has come too soon, as it has for Steve and Michael."

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner was expected to adopt similar tactics and field his strongest available starting eleven.

But striker Terry Gornell is a major doubt after hurting his knee at the weekend and Sam Winnall is definitely sidelined.

Tonight's earlier than usual kick-off will go straight to penalties if still level after ninety minutes.
