Weekend match-winner Mark Ellis described the 2-1 success against Hartlepool United as a much-needed result.

"We had to work very hard for the result and thankfully we got it" - Mark Ellis
Summer recruit Ellis and on loan teenager Chuks Aneke both scored their first goals for the club as they came from behind to eventually claim their first win in seven games at Gresty Road.

"It was a result we needed," Ellis freely admitted to Crewe's official website. "We needed to get our confidence back after a couple of defeats and hopefully that is what we have done.

"In this league you have to work hard for every result," he continued. "Hartlepool came and gave us a really good test. We had to work very hard for the result and thankfully we got it."

Crewe's third league win of the season currently leaves them in fifteenth place in the table after their opening eleven games.
