Teenager ruled out

Crewe Alexandra's teenage winger Ryan Colclough will be out for anything up to six weeks after suffering a broken jaw during the narrow weekend defeat at MK Dons.

"The best way of stopping a 17-year-old is to rough him up a little bit and maybe that's what he was trying to do" - Steve Davis
The seventeen-year-old appeared as a second-half substitute but was caught by a wandering elbow from Dons midfielder Darren Potter as the visitors eventually lost out 1-0 at Stadium MK. It was only his second senior game following last week's debut against Leyton Orient.

"Colclough took a nasty knock," manager Steve Davis confirmed to BBC Radio Stoke. "He played on with it and afterwards was in a lot of pain. He then went to hospital, where he found out that he'd fractured his jaw.

"I don't think it was intentional, or that it should have been a sending off, but the lad certainly leads with his arm," he added. "It was right in front of the ref, who was about six feet away and didn't even give a free-kick. The best way of stopping a 17-year-old is to rough him up a little bit and maybe that's what he was trying to do."
