'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Midfielder shocked at return

Returning midfielder Andy Bond admitted he never expected coming back to former club Crewe Alexandra.

"It was a bit strange to come back, but at the same time it is good to be back" - Andy Bond
The 26-year-old failed to make a senior appearance for the club after working his way through their youth system during his first spell at Gresty Road.

Instead he went on to spend four years at non-league Barrow before joining League One rivals Colchester United, for whom he has since completed almost a century of appearances.

But the departure of manager John Ward from Layer Road earlier this week prompted the Wigan-born midfielder to agree an initial one-month
loan with former club Crewe.

"The last time I came in to training at Reaseheath was six years ago, so it was a bit strange to come back, but at the same time it is good to be back," Bond told Crewe's official website. "But if I'm honest I never thought I would have come back!"
