No striker deal for Alex

An opportunity to sign a Championship striker on loan has been turned down by Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis.

"I can't guarantee him playing time because we'll soon have all our main strikers available" - Steve Davis
Both joint-leading scorer Mathias Pogba and versatile on loan Arsenal youngster Chuks Aneke will soon be available for selection following recent absences due to injury and suspension respectively.

Former Wrexham striker Pogba claimed four goals until suffering a knee injury around a month ago, while Aneke was sent-off on his full debut for the club in the recent draw at Stevenage. The teenager is though due to complete his three-match ban at MK Dons this weekend and Pogba is similarly closing in on a return to action.

However, Davis could still be forced to re-enter the loan market should midfielder Abdul Osman not recover from an ankle injury suffered against Leyton Orient.

"I've been offered a couple of players, one of which would be of great interest," Davis told Crewe's official website. "He is a forward, but I can't guarantee him playing time because we'll soon have all our main strikers available. I'm sure someone will take him because he is from a good Championship club where he has fallen out of favour."
