Sending-off was crucial - Davis

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says the red card given to full debutant Chuks Aneke changed the course of the game against Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium.

"I will have a look at it again on the way home to see if we will appeal it" - Steve Davis
At that point the visitors were ahead 2-1 after a couple of early strikes from AJ Leitch-Smith. Luke Freeman pulled one back before the break and home substitute Robin Shroot equalised after the Alex were reduced to ten-men.

Davis could decide to appeal against the decision to dismiss the teenager who would otherwise be subjected to a three-match ban.

"The sending off was the game changer," Davis admitted to Crewe's official website. "I thought that Chucks may have slipped more than anything and I will have a look at it again on the way home to see if we will appeal it. I didn't think it was malicious and I'm not sure his two feet left the ground. If we think we can appeal then we will."
