Former Alex ace nets on debut
Former Crewe Alexandra striker Nick Powell scored on his Manchester United debut in a 4-0 victory against Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford.
The eighteen-year-old substitute who signed a £5m deal over the summer rifled home on 82 minutes to complete the scoring after replacing Welsh legend Ryan Giggs.
Javier Hernandez had earlier seen a fifth-minute penalty saved by Wigan keeper Ali Al-Habsi but later added to goals from Paul Scholes and another debutant, Alex Buttner.
The victory was sufficient to move the hosts up into second place in the table and a single-point behind leaders Chelsea, who were held
to a scoreless draw by West London neighbours Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.
