On loan Arsenal midfielder Chuks Aneke could well get a first start for Crewe Alexandra against third-placed Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium this weekend.

"It continues what has been a tough start, having already played Notts County and Tranmere" - Steve Davis
The nineteen-year-old came on for the unfortunate Harry Bunn last week during the scoreless draw with then leaders Tranmere Rovers at Gresty Road.

Defender Matt Tootle is also in contention as his side aim for a third successive clean sheet. He has appeared as a substitute in the last couple of games in which the Alex have collected four points.

"It continues what has been a tough start, having already played Notts County, who are top, and Tranmere, who are second," manager Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke. "Our defending has been solid in the last two games and I've been pleased with them.

"But now we have to become better in the final third and hurt teams more," he continued. "We haven't been clinical enough in recent games and got behind teams. And we have to take our chances because Stevenage will be well organised and difficult to penetrate."

The hosts expect defender Jon Ashton and striker Robin Shroot to be available despite knocks during their 2-1 victory at Coventry City last weekend.

But Felipe Morais and Robbie Rogers each require checks after suffering slight hamstring problems.
