'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Premier striker ruled out

Manager Steve Davis has said that a move for former striker Rob Hulse would probably be beyond his available budget.

"I am sure he would be beyond our budget" - Steve Davis
The Alex have recently been linked with bringing back the 32-year-old marksman on loan from Queens Park Rangers but Davis believes wage demands would almost certainly prove a major issue.

Hulse has also been mentioned with a possible loan switch to League One rivals Brentford after finding restricted opportunities at their West London neighbours.

He originally netted 51 goals in 131 games for his hometown club until joining West Bromwich Albion in July 2003. Later spells followed at Leeds United, Sheffield United and Derby County.

"He is a quality player and would be a great acquisition to any club in the Football League," Davis admiited to Crewe's official website. "He hasn't played a lot of football of late and I am sure he would be beyond our budget."

Crewe are on the lookout for increased striking options after losing on loan Manchester City youngster Harry Bunn to a long-term knee injury while summer recruit Mathias Pogba is also currently sidelined.
