Crewe Alexandra host early league leaders Tranmere Rovers at Gresty Road on Saturday afternoon and are looking to follow up last week's excellent victory.

"We had a terrific result and performance against Coventry and we have to try and build on that" - Steve Davis
Manager Steve Davis will check on the fitness of teenage striker Max Clayton after featuring for an hour of England Under-19s 3-1 defeat to Germany in Hamburg on Thursday evening. Former team-mate Nick Powell scored the goal for the vistors.

Meanwhile, latest arrival Chuks Aneke could be handed an immediate debut for the hosts subject to clearance after coming in on a month's loan from Arsenal.

"It should be another decent game in front of a decent crowd," Davis told Crewe's official website. "I hear they are going to be bringing good support and our fans have been brilliant so far.

"We had a terrific result and performance against Coventry and we have to try and build on that," he added. "It would be great to have back-to-back victories and keep that momentum going."

The visitors are expected to welcome back skipper James Wallace and midfielder Andy Robinson following their midweek defeat to Port Vale in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
