Arsenal midfielder signs for Alex

Crewe Alexandra have signed Arsenal midfielder Chuks Aneke on loan for the next month.

The nineteen-year-old will go straight into the squad for the weekend arrival of Tranmere Rovers if the necessary clearance is received in time. Alex boss Steve Davis had been looking for additional cover following the recent departure of Ashley Westwood to Aston Villa.

England Under-19 international Aneke has so far made one substitute appearance for the Gunners in a League Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town last season.

He then had subsequent loan spells at both Stevenage and Preston North End, with a combined total of thirteen appearances and a single goal, and also netted six times in ten games for the reserves at the Emirates Stadium.
