Manager Steve Davis labelled it as a "fantastic result" as Crewe Alexandra recovered from a couple of straight losses to defeat Coventry City 1-0 at Gresty Road.

"Today we got what we deserved and I was pleased with them all" - Steve Davis
Max Clayton got the only goal midway through the first-half to secure a very important three points and leave the Alex tenth in the table following their opening quartet of games.

"It was a fantastic result and they worked hard for that," Davis told Crewe's official website. "I thought we played really well, especially in the first half and were solid and united when we needed to be.

"I thought we defended well today and that was everyone," he added. "It was a good performance and a great result for us. We didn't do well enough at Brentford and got what we deserved. Today we got what we deserved and I was pleased with them all."
