Duo ruled out of opener
Defender Matt Tootle and recent signing Michael West are both expected to miss this weekend's league season opener against Notts County at Gresty Road.
Tootle is back in light training after a groin strain but is still experiencing some discomfort. His aim is to now restart his recovery at the end of the week.
Meanwhile, West has a heel problem that has rather hampered his progress since arriving from non-league Ebbsfleet United over the summer.
But Kelvin Mellor has made a full recovery from his recent ankle operation and is now simply in need of some regular game time.
