Davis keen for closed window

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis admits he is keen for the transfer window to finally close.

That follows recent enquiries for midfielder Ashley Westwood, which are believed to have come from Championship clubs Blackpool and Peterborough United.

Alex sold striker Shaun Miller to Sheffield United earlier this week while top prospect Nick Powell joined Manchester United in a £5m deal back in June.

However, Davis has since declared himself happy with the squad after himself bringing in five new players over the summer.

"I don't see anyone leaving but if the right offer comes in for any of our boys and the chairman says we need to sell him, we need the money, we will do," he told the Crewe Chronicle. "But with the sale of Nick [Powell] we don't really need the money and I want to keep this squad of players together because I think they will be successful for Crewe.

"I don't want to break the team up at this stage," Davis added. "Any manager will say they are pleased when the transfer window passes by and you still have your squad intact. I am happy with the group I've got, we have options all over the pitch."
