Alex share draw with Bolton

Crewe Alexandra shared a 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers in their latest pre-season friendly at Gresty Road.

Alex took the lead on eleven minutes as Byron Moore and Abdul Osman linked up for Max Clayton to firmly strike past former Crewe loanee goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.

AJ Leitch-Smith went close to adding to it and in-form marksman Mathias Pogba dragged wide after being set up by Clayton before Alan Martin twice saved from Martin Petrov at the other end.

But the visitors were level as Bulgarian international Petrov tucked home a 26th minute penalty after recent signing Pogba was ruled to have handled.

The deceptive Petrov continued to be a real danger and forced another save from Martin before the break and substitute Michael O'Halloran sliced wide soon after it. Northern Ireland international Keith Andrews also tried his luck but once again Martin stopped.

Home striker Pogba replied with an enterprising break but shot straight at replacement keeper Andy Lonergan before also later chipping over after recent arrival Mark Ellis had threatened with a header.

Crewe Alexandra: Martin, Davis, Ellis, Dugdale, Robertson (Ray 86), Westwood, M. Clayton, Osman (Turton 84), Pogba, Leitch-Smith (West 83), Moore (Daniels 86)

subs (unused): Garratt, Guthrie, White, H. Clayton, Bateman

Goals: M. Clayton (11)
