New striker Mathias Pogba scored for the third successive game as Crewe Alexandra were held to a 1-1 at Leek Town in their latest pre-season friendly.

The visitors received an early shock when Mark Ruddock crashed an unstoppable shot past Alan Martin following a third minute corner.

Recent signing Michael West replied with a couple of wide efforts and Pogba narrowly cleared the crossbar following a decent individual break.

At the opposite end Martin was called into action to save from Matt Haddrell, who then drove over from another opportunity early in the second-half.

However, Alex were now as expected enjoying most of the possession and Harry Clayton threatened on three separate occasions while fellow half-time substitute Brendan Daniels also dragged a shot wide.

Finally they were rewarded when recent signing Gregor Robertson crossed and Pogba volleyed in a late equaliser to further press his claims for early inclusion into the side.

Crewe are once again in action when visiting Nantwich Town tomorrow afternoon (kick-off 3pm) for their fifth pre-season game.

Crewe Alexandra: Martin, Bateman (Westwood), White, Ellis (Davis), Guthrie, Tootle, Turton, Moore (Daniels), West (Robertson), M. Clayton (H. Clayton), Pogba
