Starlet ready to step up
Teenage striker Max Clayton is confident he can handle the pressure of League One action if called upon by manager Steve Davis.
The seventeen-year-old looks certain to play an increasingly leading role this season following the recent sale of rising discovery Nick Powell to Manchester United.
Clayton already netted five times last term - including at Southend United in the play-offs to confirm Alex's successful Wembley date with Cheltenham Town. He has also tasted international action with England up to under-18 level and appeared in the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Mexico.
"Scoring such a crucial goal at Southend - the most important match up to that point - was a magical moment for me personally," he told the Crewe Chronicle. "It's really given me a massive boost and helps me believe I can achieve good things in the league above."
