Davis salutes big signing

Manager Steve Davis believes latest signing Mark Ellis should have a really major impact at Gresty Road.

The 23-year-old signed a two-year deal after arriving from Torquay United for a fee of in the region of £80,000 earlier this week and is viewed as an ideal replacement for released skipper David Artell.

And while Davis considers his latest acquisition as one of the best centre-backs in League Two last season, he believes he can still improve further.

"He is a young lad who can get better," Davis said to Alex's official website. "He is not a giant but he is a towering lad who is very solid and strong.

"He is somebody who is a good organiser and a good character," he added. "We are looking forward to working with him now."
