Alex deal on hold
Former Chesterfield midfielder Jamie Lowry's proposed move to Crewe Alexandra is on hold due to concerns over a knee problem.
The 25-year-old is currently available after being released by the relegated Spireites at the end of their campaign. He previously spent a successful two-month loan at Gresty Road last season.
Alex manager Steve Davis remains keen to sign him on a permanent basis but has been delayed after a report from Crewe physio Rob Sharp. Lowry recently spent a couple of years on the sidelines following cruciate ligament surgery.
"Jamie had the medical which all players who sign are subject to and we also had a scan on his knee to check it out," Davis explained to This is Staffordshire. "Rob said there were one or two things in there which were a little bit concerning, so I'm having another conversation with him to see where we go from here.
"I like Jamie and he can bring something to the football club, but we have to judge that against the decisions of the consultant," he added. "I have spoken to Jamie's agent and hopefully we can continue with talks. The contract we originally offered him will still be there, but we will have to see what the consultant thinks first."
Lowry made nine starts for Alex last season before eventually returning to Chestefield at the end of January.
