Dons rule out Moore

SPL Aberdeen appear to have ruled out any approach for Crewe Alexandra winger Byron Moore.

The 23-year-old is out-of-contract and eligible to move north of the border without compensation if he rejects a new two-year deal at Gresty Road.

Both Aberdeen and Hibernian were rumoured as interested but the Dons were instead expected to secure 24-year-old Jonny Hayes from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

"Byron Moore is a new name to me," commented Aberdeen manager Craig Brown in This is Staffordshire. "We have done our best to get Hayes, and it is our understanding he will join us after his summer break."

Meanwhile, Hibs' Pat Fenton was similarly refusing to be drawn over any proposed move for Moore, who netted ten goals for Alex last season.

"We are speaking to players of the quality we want to improve the team. There's been a lot of e-mails and phone calls, but that's as much as I would like to say at this stage."
