Davis hopeful keeper can step up
Manager Steve Davis reckons young Scottish goalkeeper Alan Martin can develop into a really capable performer at Crewe Alexandra.
The 23-year-old former Motherwell and Leeds United trainee has been offered fresh terms at Gresty Road after originally arriving at the club on a free transfer from Ayr United last summer.
Davis is hopeful that ex-Scottish Under-21 international Martin can really begin to push regular keeper Steve Phillips for the number one position.
"Alan has a lot of ability," Davis told Alex's official website. "He has shown that in training and in reserve games but has to be knocking on the door asking for a chance more often."
