'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alex still drawing praise

Crewe Alexandra are still receiving deserved plaudits following their recent Wembley victory with MK Dons midfielder Stephen Gleeson their latest admirer.

The 23-year-old former Stockport County loanee was full of admiration at the approach of Alex as they disposed of Cheltenham Town in their play-off final last month. And he already sees plenty of similarities between their attractive style of play and that of his own side - who themselves finished fifth in League One last season and only lost out in the play-offs to the eventually successful Huddersfield Town.

"I am really looking forward to seeing how Crewe get on, they play excellent football," Gleeson told Dons' official website. "I watched their play-off final and thought they were a lot like us, they're a young squad and it would be nice to see them do well.

"I think it will be a competitive league this season," he added. "I don't think one team will run away with it."
