'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No bids received or wanted

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis hasn't received any firm inquiries for his players despite recent speculation linking midfielder Ashley Westwood with a move to the Premiership.

Several leading clubs, understood to include Everton, Swansea City, Reading and West Ham United, are already monitoring the progress of the 22-year-old schemer - another product of the club's famed academy.

But Davis is understandably fixed on keeping the rest of his promotion squad together following the inevitable departure this week of Nick Powell to Manchester United.

"We want to keep the nucleus together as much as possible," Davis told This is Staffordshire. "I'm glad we sorted out deals early in the season for Adam Dugdale, AJ Leitch-Smith and Harry Davis. It's good to have them on board.

"We have had no offers for any of our players apart from Nick Powell and I don't particularly want any."
