'If It's Football, It's Vital'

In it for keeps

Crewe Alexandra will re-open talks with goalkeeper Steve Phillips over a coaching role within their new Academy structure once he returns from holiday.

The club are hopeful that their experienced shot-stopper continues to see his future at Gresty Road, with a part-time coaching role added as part of his duties.

"We will resume talks with Steve once he comes back from holiday," manager Steve Davis told Crewe's official website. "He will still be our number one goalkeeper and do some part-time coaching as well. When we realised that the Academy would need a goalkeeping coaching position he was the first person I thought of."

The 34-year-old already has plenty of first-hand experience and more than five hundred senior appearances to his credit after previous spells at both Bristol clubs.
