Artell a doubt

Despite coming over his recent hamstring injury, the Alex skipper is once again a doubt.

Artell missed the 2-2 draw with Aldershot and was expected to regain his place in the starting eleven for tomorrows game. However, Artell has now suffered an ankle injury and looks unlikely to play.

Steve Davis told the Crewe Alex official website: "Dave got that knock in training and has some swelling on his foot and ankle. Hopeful he will be okay but we will have to wait and see.

'We would miss his height and experience because he has done really well for us over the last few months and been a real man mountain for us."

If Artell does not declare himself fit, Kelvin Mellor is likely to keep his place.
