Jordan Brown signs month-long deal

Steve Davis is hoping to have found the solution to his problems at left-back. With no senior left-footer in the squad, Davis and assistant Neil Baker have been on the lookout for a left-footed left-back since September.

Brown has only been given a one-month contract, which is actually shorter than the period of time he has been on trial at the club, as Davis wants a proper look at the former West Ham youngster.

But Davis is very hopeful that Brown could be the solution to the left-sided problem at the club. Speaking to the club's official website, the Alex gaffer said: 'Jordan has impressed sufficiently to have a further look really and I think we have done the right to get him and have another look at him.

'The month gives us an opportunity for him to get some games and I am looking to put him in if possible and see if he is the one that can fill that slot that we haven't been able to fill yet.

'We are fairly positive that he will do well for us. He is a young boy that wants an opportunity to impress and we are willing to give him that, as we do at Crewe.'

Brown is available for tomorrow night's local derby at Vale Park but is unlikely to be risked in such an important, high-profile game for the club.

Vital Crewe wish Jordan every success at Crewe Alexandra.
